Philosophy

The arts are good for business and business is good for the arts. By investing in the arts, business improves the quality of life and fosters economic development. This, in turn, attracts new business and spurs community growth. The Tampa Bay Business Committee for the Arts, Inc. ("TBBCA"), encourages business to invest in the arts, and assists its members in maximizing their financial and in-kind resources allocated to the arts. top


Mission Statement

To broaden the base of business participation in the arts and culture of the Tampa Bay area. The organization aims to educate, motivate, develop and recognize business support of the arts. This is achieved through business/arts partnerships, volunteerism, in-kind donations and leadership development. The TBBCA is not a fundraising organization for arts groups. top

Objectives

1. Increase business support for the arts.

2. Increase awareness of arts in the business community.

3. Provide a link between business, cultural organizations, government and civic agencies. top

History

The TBBCA is a not-for-profit organization of business and professional leaders committed to encouraging and developing business involvement with the arts. Founded in 1989, the TBBCA is the first Florida affiliate of the national Business Committee for the Arts ("BCA"), and is an outgrowth of the Cultural Affairs Council of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. The national group was founded in 1967 by David Rockefeller and a core of America's top business leasders. There are currently eight BCA affiliates across the country, each of which advocates and encourages business/arts alliances that serve the needs of the repective community. top

Funding

Operating costs are supported primarily by annual membership fees and in-kind contributions. The TBBCA is not related to or in competition with the Arts Councils of Hillsborough or Pinellas County, which is funded by governmental agencies. top
