Melinda Chavez
Executive Director
Melinda brings
to the TBBCA a wealth of experience in the cultural sector,
most recently serving as
Executive Director of the Ybor City State Museum. Ms. Chavez
has also served as Curator of Education at the Henry B. Plant
Museum and Historic Sites Specialist for the Hillsborough County
Preservation
Board. She has been actively involved with the Friends of
the Arts
at the Tampa Museum of Art and a board members of the Gasparilla
Festival of the Arts for a number of years. She has also
served as Vice President for Sales and Marketing for Chavez Catering.
At Berkeley Preparatory School, Ms. Chavez developed and
served
as founding chairman of both the Fine Arts Department and
the Counseling Department. She received an MA degree in Medieval
British
History
from the University of Virginia and a BA cum laude in History
from Emory University.
